The State Committee on privatization of pubic property offers to privatize the state-owned shares of the small and medium-scale enterprises, the privatization of which was carried out under the first State Program on privatization of public property, through the investment competitions. Karam Hasanov, the chairman of the State Committee on Privatization, told journalists that some 800 enterprises remained with the unrealized packet of shares 30% each. Proposals on the denationalization through the investment competitions have been submitted the government.
As of 1 April 2006, since the beginning of the process some 35,000 small state enterprises and facilities have been privatized, with 710 denationalized in the first quarter of 2006.
