Construction of a Fruit and Vegetable Terminal in Aktau Delays

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. I. Khalilova / Azerbaijani Company - Universal Kazakhstan has not been on schedule of the construction of a fruit and vegetable terminal to be installed in the Western Kazakhstan City of Aktau. The Governor of Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, Krymbek Kusherbayev, said in Baku that the construction of then terminal was planned to be completed in the first half year of 2007, but it delayed due to several reasons.

"We appealed to the Power of Azerbaijan for the prompt construction of this facility which is capable to keep more than 3.000 tons of vegetables and fruits per day. We are ready to assist in launching this facility within a short period," the Governor said.

According to him, taking into consideration the huge amount of the investments into Mangistau region and increase in the number of population, such terminal is in great demand. "After information on the construction of the terminal, the business people of Russia and Iran, who want to use the possibilities of the terminal, began to make appeals," Kusherbayev stressed.

The decision on construction of the terminal was made in the opening of the grain terminal in April 2007 during the working visit of the former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Daniel Ahmedov to Baku. According to the decision of the Kazakh side, 5 ha territory was allocated in the territory of Aktau Port for the construction of the terminal. "We have fulfilled our obligations and it needs to resolve the issues regarding the construction of the terminal," the Governor said.
