International Conference ‘Commercial-Economic and Scientific-Technical Co-operation between Azerbaijan and Russia: Situation and Prospects’ to Take Place in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Trade Representative of Russia to Azerbaijan, Yuri Shedrin, said that an international conference 'Commercial-economic and scientific-technical co-operation between Azerbaijan and Russia: situation and prospects' will take place in Baku on 28 June.

According to him, as a result of the conference, a resolution will be passed which will be a frame and basis for foreign-economic participation of the two countries. "If the event will yield effective results, a proposal will be made to conduct it regularly," Shedrin said.

The conference is aimed at raising efficiency of activities of Russian companies, joint ventures with Russian capital which function in Azerbaijan, exchanging experience, establishing cooperation between Russian business organizations and relevant organizations of Azerbaijan and defining objective and subjective factors which negatively affect establishment of external-trade relations and making proposals to avoid them.

During the conference, programmes will be prepared for concrete steps to activate bilateral cooperation between the countries in the near future (signing of contracts, agreements and intentions in this sphere).

The conference will be attended by the Heads of the Governments of Dagestan, Tatarstan, the Stavropol region, Moscow, the Kurgan region, branches of Russian firms and companies in Azerbaijan and representatives of the economic departments of the two countries.

The general sponsors of the event are the Azerbaijani representation of 'Volgoburmash', sponsors: Azerbaijan Russian Business-Chamber, Bank Nikoil, 'AzRosProminvest', Trade House Uraltrade, Group, MuganBank and Lukoil-Azerbaijan JSC.
