Azerbaijani Ministry, UNESCAP Prepared to Expand Cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The implementation of the project 'Application of Planning, Monitoring and Appraisal of Local Incomes and opening of new jobs in Azerbaijan' was discussed at a meeting held in Scientific and Research Institute of the Ministry of Economic Development with experts of the UN Economic and Social Commission on Asia and Pacific Ocean (UNESCAP).

Sevinj Hasanova, the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, and Amitava Mihers and Yevgeniy German, experts of UNESCAP, considered methodological issues over the project. Stating his recommendations on the project the Deputy Minister noted her readiness to render every assistance to expansion of cooperation with UNESCAP.

In addition, the guests got familiar with the work done under the State Program on Socio-Economic Development of Regions in 2004-2008. Over the past three years over 550,000 jobs have opened with 80% falling on the share of regions. As a result of 2006, the level of poverty dropped by 20% in the country.
