Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / Azerbaijan needs at least five years to resolve the problems in the construction sector, the Executive Director of 'Participants of Real Estate Market' public organization, Nusrat Ibrahimov, said on 31 August.
A 16-storey building which was under construction in one of Baku central streets collapsed on 28 August. According to recent reports, 12 people died and 3 were injured.
"The majority of trade schools which trained professional workers during the USSR period are now not in operation. For this reason the workers engaged in construction work are not qualified," Ibrahimov said.
According to the expert, lack of qualified manpower is one of the many problems existing in the construction sector.
