Turkey Prepares to Sign Inter-Governmental Agreement on Nabucco Pipeline Project: Prime Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 July / Trend / In the near months, Turkey will sign an Inter-Governmental on realization of Nabucco pipeline construction project, ITAR-TASS reports.

"The agreement on gas transit via the territories of Nabucco participating countries will be signed in the next several months," Rajab Tayyub Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, said.

Nabucco costing $12.4bln is expected to supply gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to EU countries since 2013. OMV, MOL ( Hungary), Botas ( Turkey), Bulgargaz ( Bulgaria), Transgaz ( Romania) and German RWE are the shareholders of the project, each owing16.67%.

Earlier the participants of the project - Bulgaria and Hungary - called on to accelerate work on construction of Nabucco project, as well as increase its political support.

Erdogan said that Turkey continues work jointly with Russia, Iran, Iraq on realization of pipeline projects.

"Projects are realized with regards to ore production, steps were taken to develop nuclear energy, wind energy and sun energy. Investments were put so that Turkey ensures its demand for energy resources and becomes a contemporary player in this sphere," Erdogan said.
