Azeriqaz will increase country's gas supply up to 93 percent from the current 85 percent as a part of the state program on Socio-Economic Development of Regions in 2009-2013, Azeriqaz deputy director Nazim Samadzade said at a press conference.

"We plan to increase country's gas supply by 8 percent as a part of the state program's implementation," Samadzade said.

He said the company needs funds which are formed from sale of natural gas. "The company faces difficulties due to the low rate of collections," Samadzade said.

Azeriqaz has received appeals from municipalities and local bodies to implement gas supply via local budget.

"But Azeriqaz will not supply gas to a region or city will low rate of gas fee collection. This issue will be considered after the problem of payment is solved as at current situation Azeriqaz faces losses," Samadzade said.
