The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will install equipment to produce alternative energy in May within a project to establish an ecological park on the areas of H.Z.Tagiyev Oil and Gas Production Department, SOCAR Vice President Ecology Mukhtar Babayev said. The park will cover 9.3 hectares.
"Equipments to generate wind power and solar batteries will be installed in the park in May," he said. According to Babayev, four wind generators each with a capacity of 10 kilowatts, and solar batteries with a total capacity of 20 kilowatts will be installed in the park.
Earlier Babayev said the park will not use so much energy, but the share of alternative sources of consumption will amount to roughly 20-25 percent during the initial stage. A special section for exotic plants and new trees and flowers will also be built at the park. The park will also include a special greenhouse for 50,000 seedlings.
The initial designed capacity is planned to be achieved in the first phase of the project. The use of alternative energy sources is scheduled for expansion under the second phase of the project. The operations to establish the park will be completed within 2010.
