According to preliminary data, in January-March 2011 the volume of gas consumption by regions amounted to 1 168.3 million cubic meters, the Central Dispatch Administration of the Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan reported.
"In I quarter of this year, domestic consumption of gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 1 168.3 million cubic meters, which is lower than the previous month by 4.1 percent and 14.1 percent more than March 2010," the Agency reported.
Moreover, as stated in the document, in I quarter of this year, gas reserves in underground gas storage decreased by 152.8 million cubic meters
In addition, the document says that in March 2011 the import of natural gas amounted to 674.7 million cubic meters. This is 5.3 percent lower than last month and 10.6 percent higher than March last year.
"In general, in I quarter of this year, gas imports amounted to 2 254.0 million cu m," the report said.
As previously reported, in March 2011 Kazakhstan produced 3 516.6 million cubic meters gas, including 1 722.3 million cubic meters natural gas.
