Turkmenneft state concern's Oil and Gas Production Unit (OGPU) produced over 2.66 million tons of oil and 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Balkan province of Turkmenistan in the first half of 2011, the Ministry of Oil&Gas Industry and Mineral Resources reported.
The largest refinery of the country with the capacity of 6 million tons of oil per year is located in Turkmenbashi, the Balkan region. In addition, natural gas is exported from this region to Iran through the Korpedzhe-Edge-Gouy pipeline, commissioned in late 1990s.
The OGPU drilled 96,000 meters in the first six months of 2011, including extra 16,216 meters.
