Uzbekistan to build thermal power station

Uzbekistan plans to build a new thermal power station in the Surkhandarya region (south of Uzbekistan) with a capacity of 300 MW and preliminary project cost $ 600 million in 2015 - 2019, Uzbekenergo said.

It is assumed that the thermal power plant will work on coal extracted in Shargun and Baysun fields. A project worth $ 73 million will be implemented to modernize Shargunugol company till 2017. It also develops coal deposits in the Surkhandarya region to increase coal production in these fields by 9.7 times - up to 900,000 tons annually. The total proven reserves in Baysun and Shargun coal deposits hit 45.8 million tons of coal.
