SOCAR's Ecology Department has undertaken environmental monitoring in the Gurgan Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the report said today.
The Gurgan Deniz field is on the balance sheet of SOCAR's oil and gas department Absheronneft.
According to the information, samples of the water, plankton, phytoplankton and sediments were taken during the monitoring. The physical and chemical characteristics of the marine environment were examined. The speed and direction of ocean currents were also measured. All the data obtained was sent to a laboratory.
