Iran's non-oil exports is projected to hit $59 billion in the next Iranian calendar year which begins on March 21, 2013, the Mehr News Agency quoted industry ministry official Mehdi Fathollah as saying on Monday.

The Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (March 2011-March 2016) envisaged that non-oil exports would reach $59 billion in the third year of the plan, he noted.

According to the plan, the value of non-oil exports will increase to $69 billion and $80 billion in the years to March 2015 and March 2016, respectively, he said.

On September 28, Mohammad-Reza Izadian the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran's (TPOI) director for planning affairs said Iran plans to give a boost to its non-oil exports in the second half of the current year.

The total value of Iran's non-oil imports and exports during the first half of the current year amounted to $47.1 billion, according to the Customs Administration data.

Iran exported around 37.45 million tons of goods worth $20.62 billion and imported some 19.12 million tons of goods worth $26.48 billion in the six-month period.

Iran exported around $43.7 billion worth of non-oil goods in the previous (calendar) year and imported some $61.8 billion worth of goods to hit the unprecedented mark of $105 billion in annual trade.

On August 5, Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Shamseddin Hosseini said Iran conducted economic transactions with 150 countries in the last calendar year.

Iran's annual trade turnover is projected to reach $160 billion by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (March 2016), TPOI reported in May.
