The idea of Azerbaijani gas supplies to China through Kazakhstan is still at the discussion stage, CEO of the Kazakh company KazTransGaz Serik Sultangali told Trend.

"Idea of the supply of Azerbaijani gas to China through Kazakhstan was discussed at the level of the national companies' heads (KazMunaiGas and SOCAR - Trend note). And only if the corresponded decision is made at the highest level we will begin to conduct appropriate negotiations, and will calculate the economic component," Sultangali said.

The partnership is established between the national companies of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, he added.

"Azerbaijan - our neighbor, the fraternal republic, and such ambitious projects can be implemented in the future, why not?" Sultangali said.

Former head of KazMunaiGas Kairgeldy Kabyldin and head of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters at a regular forum KazEnergy three years ago that they are going to discuss a joint project of a gas pipeline under the Caspian Sea for the organization of Azerbaijani gas supply through Kazakhstan to China.

Kazakhstan is constructed Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent pipeline, connecting the western regions of the country, where there are rich deposits of gas, with the south of the country, jointly with China.
