BTC transports over 2.5 million tons of oil in January

In January 2013, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported about 2.6 million tons of oil compared to about 2.8 million tons in January 2012, SOCAR said on Tuesday.

In 2012, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported nearly 29.67 million tons of oil compared to 32.2 million tons in 2011.

As of Feb.1, 2013, 208.03 million tons of oil was transported through the pipeline during the whole period of its operation.

Some 2.34 million tons of oil were supplied to the world markets from the Ceyhan Turkish port in January compared to about 2.46 million tons in January 2012. As of Feb.1, 2013, over 206 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was supplied to the world markets from Ceyhan during the whole period of its operation.

Some 29.3 million tons of oil were supplied to world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in 2012 compared to 32.08 million tons in 2011.

Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.90 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TRAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.50 percent), ConocoPhilips (2.50 percent) and Hess (2.36 percent).
