SOCAR's Geophysics and Geology Department has begun two-dimensional seismic surveys onshore within a contract signed with Conoco Phillips Exploration Azerbaijan Ltd, the department's statement said.
According to the report, the surveys will be conducted along the 950 kilometre profiles over the south-western slopes of the Greater Caucasus.
'Employees of Exploration Geophysics Department and the Transport and Special Technique Department have already begun surveys that are successfully continuing today', the report says.
Earlier the Geophysics and Geology Department won the tender announced by Conoco Phillips.
SOCAR and Conoco Philips signed an agreement on joint research within pre-survey onshore Azerbaijan in July 2011.
