Turkmen Geology State Corporation has discovered new rich gas deposits in the exploitation well at the Chelekbay site located in the north-western part of the giant Galkynysh field, the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan said in a message Dec. 1.

“The upper layers of the well produce more than 1 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, according to the experts’ estimates,” the message said.

According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which audits Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. With the newly discovered Garakel field, the block's reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
