Kazakhstan's oil refinery starts production of ecological diesel fuel

Kazakhstan’s Shymkent oil refinery started to produce diesel fuel of K4 and K5 ecological class, the press service of the company "KazMunayGas" said in a message.

Petroleum products of K4 and K5 class are analogue of European Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards, adopted in the countries of the Customs Union.

"Shymkent Oil Refinery switched to production and release of diesel fuel of K4 and K5 ecological class on December 15, according to the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union of the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union)," according to the message.

The test amounts of K4, K5 diesel fuel have already been developed.

Since July 2017, the Shymkent plant has started production of high-octane gasoline of K4 and K5 ecological classes. Currently, the second stage of construction of facilities within the plant’s modernization project is nearing completion.

The modernization aims at increasing the plant's capacity to 6 million tons of gasoline per year. Completion of the project is planned for September 2018.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan stated that the transition to the release of petroleum gasoline and diesel fuel of ecological classes will be carried out in Kazakhstan on January 1, 2018.

The Pavlodar petrochemical plant announced its plans to start production of K4 diesel fuel on December 22, 2017.
