Bahar Energy plans to increase the number of wells involved in the test injection of water into reservoirs at the Azerbaijani oil field Gum Deniz in the Caspian Sea, a source in the oil and gas market of Azerbaijan told Trend June 12.
The source told Trend that two wells are currently involved in the program.
"It is planned to involve another well in the process soon. Water injection will be continued as long as new wells are included in the program," the source said.
A contract for exploration, rehabilitation, development and production at the Bahar and Gum Deniz offshore block of fields was signed by the Azerbaijan state company SOCAR and Bahar Energy in 2009.
The Bahar field has been developed since 1969 and is located 40 kilometers southeast of Baku.
The American company Greenfields Petroleum is 100 percent owner of the operating company Bahar Energy Limited.
