Hassan Montazer Torbati, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company, has expressed Iran’s hope to export gas to the European countries.

“Iran holds 34 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves. In addition to preserving current customers in the region and in neighbor countries, exporting gas to Europe will be a part of the plan to increase share in global gas trades,” he added, Trend reports citing ILNA.

“We hope the European companies will welcome Iran’s gas exports,” he said.

Previously, the Iranian officials announced exporting gas to Europe will lack economic profits and they prefer to export to neighbor countries as their main export targets.

Montazer Torbati noted: “There are 12 countries that can export gas to Europe, and Iran is one of them. It has the capacity to export 30 billion cubic meters of gas via eight pipelines to Europe.”
