Production at the Kashagan offshore field in Kazakhstan's Atyrau region will be suspended for 1.5 months, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

"Oil production at the Kashagan field will be suspended this month. NCOC [the field operator] will start equipment overhaul at the Bolashak ground plant and on the D island. Preparatory work is being сarried out," NCOC press service stated.

The planned repair time is 45 days. Up to 5,000 NCOC employees and contractor partners will be involved in the work.

It should be noted that last year oil production at Kashagan - the largest oil field in Kazakhstan - increased 1.6 times. Production exceeded 13.22 million tons while the plan was 11 million tons.

The total oil reserves of Kashagan reach 38 billion barrels, of which about 10-11 billion barrels are recoverable. At the same time, natural gas reserves exceed one trillion cubic meters.
