World Bank allocates$150 M loan to Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan received a loan from World Bank in the amount of $150 million to cover the cost of a project to modernize and upgrade the backbone electrical grids, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Part of these funds will be directed to search for the services of a highly qualified international consultant and an expert in the creation and development of the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC.

At the end of May, 2019, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on a strategy for the further development and reform of the electricity sector in Uzbekistan.

The document states that Uzbekenergo JSC was reorganized in accordance with modern methods of organizing the production, transportation, distribution and sale of electric energy.

Thermal Power Plants JSC appeared on the basis of the Uzbekenergo. It manages thermal power plants and power plants that generate electricity and heat.
