Russian oil production giant Lukoil plans to begin exploratory drilling at the Khazri field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea in 2020, Trend reports via Russian media July 24.

Head of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov explained that the company’s development rates in the north of the Caspian Sea after 2021 may decrease due to the unresolved issue of gas transportation from the Khvalynskoye field (being developed under the PSA terms with KazMunayGas). The work on it was suspended in 2015.

LUKOIL-Azerbaijan operates in the country since 1993. The company manages 58 filling stations and an oil depot. This helped LUKOIL to become a reliable supplier of diesel fuel and gasoline, as well as lubricants to international and Azerbaijani companies operating in the local market.
