By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran uses 859,000 tons of oil for producing primary products (petrol, gas, etc.) worth $1 billion, said Isa Kalantari, Head of Department of Environment under Iranian government, Trend reports referring to ISNA.

According to him, Germany, in contrast, uses only 100,000 tons of oil for the production of primary products worth $1 billion.

Kalantari added that the reason behind this is the lack of necessary technology in Iran. "Hundreds of billions of dollars are needed to introduce [the necessary] technology. Unfortunately, it is impossible to provide it in the current economic situation," he said.

Kalantari also noted that industrial development without strategy is achieved at the expense of the environment. Therefore, a concrete strategy for the development must be in place, he added.
