It is planned to introduce three different electricity tariffs in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
"The possibility of differentiating electricity prices by the volume of its consumption will be considered in the near future. It is a global practice to introduce three tariffs including basic, low and high tariffs. This will complicate the settlement system somewhat, but at the same time, it will be the fairest decision with respect to consumers," the Ministry of Energy reports.
The new system can be implemented via the already installed smart meters, which have a multi-tariff system. Furthermore, they can work on the accounting of electric energy depending on the time of day.
While this system has yet to be implemented in Uzbekistan, the introduction of “day” and “night” tariffs is hindered by a serious problem, the news report said.
As noted, it is associated with interruptions in the supply of electricity in the country.
