The construction of the Saryarka main pipeline will be finished in December 2019, Head of the Gas and Petrochemical Department of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan Ziyash Kiyakbayev said, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

He made the statement during the meeting at the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan on August 28.

“The main construction work is going according to the plan. One welding group in Karaganda region and three groups in Akmola region have been attracted for construction for its timely completion thus creating an opposing traffic,” Kiyakbayev noted.

As he further stated, the groups of opposing traffic welded 23 kilometers of pipes and successfully implemented initial hydraulic testing on 240th and 360th kilometers of the pipeline. At the same time, the work on isolation of welding seams is underway.

Meanwhile, some delay in certain activities is observed.

“However, notwithstanding the delay, we expect that by December of this year, the construction will be fully finished, including all objects such as five automated gas distribution stations, one distribution station and a command post,” Kiyakbayev assured.

Furthermore, the construction of automated gas distribution stations in Nur-Sultan, Karaganda, Temirtau and Zhezqazghan is promised to be finished in time.

Saryarka pipeline starts from Beyneu-Bozoy-Shymkent pipeline. The main construction work is to be finished by the end of 2019 and the commissioning is planned for 2020. The 1,061 kilometers long pipeline will provide 171 settlements with gas. Currently, 780 kilometers of the pipeline have been already welded, and the project is 74 percent ready.

Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC is participating in the funding of the project, KazStroyService JSC is the contractor of the project and Astana Gas is the operator.
