Japanese Itochu and Marubeni trading houses showed interest in participating in an international tender for the implementation of the first phase of the project “Modernization of the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan” funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), Trend reports with referring to the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy.

The issue was discussed during a meeting with representatives of Japanese companies at Uzbekistan's Uztransgas JSC energy company. Japanese side also demonstrated interest in participation in the second phase with the involvement of Japanese soft financing.

The parties agreed to organize additional meetings in November between working groups for a detailed discussion of financing and implementation of the second phase of the project with the participation of Japanese companies.

Following the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Alisher Sultanov to Japan in September this year, the country's leading companies showed interest in the joint implementation of the project “Program for the modernization of the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan with the introduction of a center for dispatching, monitoring and managing gas infrastructure facilities”.
