Minister: Major gas processing project to be launched in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 5

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

The Persian Gulf Bid Boland Gas Refinery, a major project on the collection and processing of gases extracted together with oil, will be commissioned in Iran early next Iranian year (began March 21, 2020), Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Trend reports referring to the Shana news agency.

Zanganeh noted that $3 billion have been spent on this project.

The minister added that the commissioning of the project will result in the reduction of environmental pollutants in Iran’s Khuzestan province and the development of the petrochemical industry in Gachsaran county.

Zanganeh said that it will be possible to daily process more than 56 million cubic meters of gas extracted together with oil and produce 3.4 million tons of fuel for the petrochemical industry.

“Contracts have been signed with the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industry Company and the Marun Petrochemical Company to collect gases extracted together with oil in the East Karun county (which has Karun river and oil fields around it),” the minister noted.

In addition, NGL 3200 plant is under construction to collect gases extracted together with oil in West Karun county and the plant is expected to be commissioned until the end of the term of the current Iranian government (ends in August 2021), Zanganeh added.

“The cost of the petrochemical fuel to be produced with the commissioning of these projects will exceed $2 billion,” the minister said.
