The decision on purchase of pumps for main pipelines by KazTransOil (KTO) could be made in 2Q2020, a representative of KTO told Trend.

On Feb. 28, 2020 KazTransOil signed a memorandum on cooperation with Kazakh KARLSKRONA LC AB company on possible supply of pumps for main pipelines.

The KTO official said that representatives of KARLSKRONA LC AB will visit operational sites of the KTO in 2Q2020 and will inspect the existing main pumping units of the company.

“Having studied the technical documentation of the pumps, KARLSKRONA LC AB will prepare a blueprint of its own equipment, which will later undergo industrial testing,” the official said.

The official added that in the case that the tests’ results are positive, KTO will sign an off-take agreement with KARLSKRONA LC AB company. Following the agreement signing company’s pumps will be used when transporting oil, meaning that locally-manufactured equipment will be used in oil transportation sphere.

KazTransOil is Kazakhstan’s largest oil pipeline company, which provides services on oil transportation on the domestic market and for export. The company is an owner of the largest network of main oil pipelines and waterlines in the country, total length of which amounts to 5,376 km of oil pipelines and 1,975 km of water pipeline.
