Installation of a domestic jacket at the B platform of 11th Phase of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (this field is called North Dome in Qatar) has started, Trend reports citing Pars Oil and Gas Company’s website.

According to the report, the 2,200-ton structure was sent to 11th phase area last night for installation. This will be the first homemade jacket installed at the field's 11th Phase.

According to the report, wells will be drilled after the installation of the jacket. The goal is to produce a total of 1 billion cubic feet (28.3 million cubic meters) of gas per day at 11th Phase.

The drilling of 5 wells will begin after the installation of the jacket. The production is expected to begin next year.

France's Total and China's CNPC withdrew from the project due to the US sanctions against Iran, and Iran's Petropars Company took over the project.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. At present, Iran's daily gas production from the South Pars gas field is more than 700 million cubic meters. Iran has so far spent $33 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.
