The import of gasoline and diesel fuel to Georgia amounted to nearly 86,000 tons in May 2020, which is 17,500 tons or 25.5 percent more comparing to the previous month (approximately 68,500 tons), Trend reports referring to the Georgian Union of Oil Product Importers.
This is 800 tons or 0.9 percent more comparing to the same period of the last year (85,200 tons).
From January through May 2020, the import of gasoline and diesel fuel to Georgia amounted to 398,900 tons, which is 5,300 tons or 1.3 percent less comparing to the same period of the last year (404,200 tons).
In partucular, the import of gasoline to Georgia exceeded 41,100 tons in May of this year (an increase of 1,400 tons or 3.5 percent compared to the same period of the last year). The import of diesel fuel exceeded 44,800 tons, a decrease compared to the same period of the last year by 700 tons or 1.5 percent.
The largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel has been imported from Russia (136,600 tons) during the reporting period, which accounts for 34.2 percent of total imports. It is followed by Romania - 73,400 tons (18.4 percent), Azerbaijan - 65,300 tons (16.4 percent), Turkmenistan - 46,700 tons (11.7 percent), Bulgaria - 31,600 tons (7.9 percent), Greece - 17,300 tons (4.3 percent), Kazakhstan - 17,100 tons (4.3 percent), Turkey - 9,100 tons (2.3 percent) and other countries.
According to the Georgia's Union of Oil Product Importers, fuel imports volume has not changed over the first five months of this year compared to the same period of the last year, but its consumption significantly declined, i.e. by 20 percent on an average.
