TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.20

Trend:

The governor of Iran`s Hormozgan Province Fereydoun Hemmati said that oil and refinery related projects are being implemented in Jask city using domestic capacity and soon the Makran coast in the east of the province will become the energy hub of Iran, Trend reports via IRNA.

Hemmati recently visited the site area, to observe the oil and refinery projects being implemented on the coast in Jask city.

“Three super projects here include an oil transmission line, oil export terminal and port, and oil export docks on the Makran coast in Jask city,” Hemmati said.

"Each of these super-projects, with the efforts and capabilities of our country's specialists and engineers, are being implemented by domestic companies,” he said adding that with the implementation of the transmission line, oil will be transferred from Goreh to Jask.

“An oil export terminal with a capacity of 10 million barrels per day is being prepared on the shores of Makran,” he added.

“In the future with the completion and operation of these projects, a wide range of employment will be created for local forces in the province,” said Hemmati.

Makran is a semi-desert coastal strip stretched along southeastern Iran to Pakistan’s Balochistan and borders the coasts of Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

The Iranian part of Makran Coast, bordering provinces of Hormozgan and Sistan-Baluchestan provinces, has been earmarked as a prime location for development, as its location makes it ideal for becoming a commercial hub in southern Iran.

The strategic Makran region has attracted the attention of many Iranian decision-makers and military officials. In particular, after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need for developing the region.
