Iran discloses capacity of dams

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1

The water capacity of Iran's dams reached 50.5 billion cubic meters within the current water year (September 22, 2020 through September 22, 2021), until February 20, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the statistics, these dams are about 54 percent full at present. So, Iran's dams currently hold 27.3 billion cubic meters of water.

“As a result of natural precipitations, water inflows to dams amounted to 13.7 billion cubic meters from the beginning of the current water year to February 20. This is a decrease of 9 percent compared to the same period last water year. So, 15 billion cubic meters of water inflow into the dams was recorded during the same period last year,” the statistics said.

In addition, water outflow from Iran's dams also decreased by 17 percent. About 13.6 billion cubic meters of water was outflowed from the country's dams from the beginning of the current water year to February 20, the statistics said.
