The Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company’s daily crude oil refining capacity increased by 30,000 barrels, as a result of a number of changes in the viscosity reduction unit of the company, Managing Director of the company, Hashem Namvar said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The director emphasized that the residue of the evaporating turbines in the viscosity reduction unit was converted into light products at high temperatures. In order to increase the refining capacity and make maximum use of the existing potential, and it was possible to refine crude oil in this unit. At the same time, energy consumption was prevented in this section thanks to modern equipment.

Namvar added that this unit already produces 4.7 million liters of oil products daily. So, the unit produces 120,000 liters of liquefied gas, 1.13 million liters of gasoline, 1.05 million liters of diesel and 2.4 million liters of fuel oil per day.

“The production of the refinery's unit will bring in $17 million a year,” he said.

The director noted that however, the construction of a plant to refine daily 30,000 barrels of crude oil, the installation of equipment, along with technical support, would have cost about $500 million over 4 years.

The refinery of Iran's Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company processes 350,000 barrels of crude oil and gas condensate per day. In this regard, the company ranks third among Iranian oil companies. The company produces liquefied gas, gasoline, white oil, diesel, mazut, solvent 402, lube cut, sulfur, and other products.
