Iran plans to launch thermal power plants that can generate 16.6 megawatt-hours of electricity in the coming years, Trend reports citing Iran's Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.
According to the report, necessary funds are allocated for the construction of thermal power plants.
"Also, the construction of a 1,400-megawatt power plant began on June 10, 2021 with an investment of Russia," the report said.
In addition, a 500-megawatt Mahmudabad thermal power plant is planned to be built in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran), the report said.
According to the report, it is planned to hold tenders for the generation of 9,700 megawatt hours of electricity.
"The thermal power plants with a generation capacity of 13,800 megawatt-hours of electricity have been launched in Iran during the current government (which has been in power since August 2013)," the report said.
Reportedly, the Sirik TPP in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) is to be built with a loan allocated by the Russian Federation to Iran. It is planned to spend 1.4 billion euro on the construction of the thermal power plant. Of this, 1.2 billion euro will be provided at the expense of Russian loans, and the rest – the reserves of the Iranian government.
