The first wind Ybyray power station is being built in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan, the head of the Kostanay region Archimedes Mukhambetov said, Trend reports referring to Kazinform international news agency.
It is reported that the capacity of the first Ybyrai wind farm amounts to 50MW. The cost of the project is 26.3 billion tenge ($62 million) and is being implemented through private investment.
According to Mukhambetov, to date, seven out of 16 wind power plants have been installed, each of them with a capacity of 3.2 MW.
“A step-up substation 35/110 kV, a 110 kV line, a 35 kV line to the mounted wind power plants and an administrative and residential area have been built,” the head of the region said.
He also noted that the wind turbines are supplied from China. In the near future, the installation of the remaining wind turbines and power lines will begin.
“As part of the tests on August 17, the initial start-up of five wind power plants was carried out. Start-up and commissioning works are underway,” Mukhambetov said.
