Foreign companies show great interest in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy projects

Foreign companies engaged in renewable energy sphere in Azerbaijan show great interest in the energy projects to be implemented in the country, Head of Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy Tabriz Ammayev told Trend.

“We regularly hold meetings with representatives of those companies and study cooperation opportunities within different business models. Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy is taking steps to learn the international practice in the renewable energy sphere and expand cooperation opportunities. Our representatives have participated in seminars on different topics in order to study the experience of Turkey, Germany, UK, India and other countries. Moreover, we’ve organized webinars on use of offshore wind energy, green energy, energy storage with the support of the UK embassy in Baku and in collaboration with KBR, Technip, Energy Research Accelerator (ERA) and Equinor,” he said.

Ammayev noted that specialists of Masdar company organized a seminar on hydrogen energy for employees of relevant government agencies and companies.

“Employees of the Agency also participated in the meetings of the working group organized by bp and exchanged experiences and views. In addition to the international seminars, the State Agency also organizes various events. As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Energy, bp and Masdar, Greentech Summer Camp 2021 training program was organized by the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources on July 7-8 at Gobustan Hybrid Power Plant. The event featured an exchange of experience with the participation of international experts on the use of renewable energy sources, green energy technologies and other related topics.”
