Gas consumption in Iran down

The natural gas consumption in housing, commercial and catering and small industrial facilities in Iran decreased by 2 billion cubic meters during first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Caretaker of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

Joulaei noted that Iran consumed over 105 billion cubic meters of natural gas in six months.

"Gas consumption in housing, commercial and catering and small industrial facilities amounted to about 37.5 billion cubic meters, in large industrial facilities - about 24 billion cubic meters and in power plants - 45.7 billion cubic meters," he added.

The official also said that gas consumption at Iran’s power plants for 6 months, increased by 4 billion cubic meters, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"In addition, more than 125 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to Iran's gas network within six months, which is 3 billion more than in the same period last Iranian year," Joulaei said.

The official stressed that 577 million cubic meters of gas was consumed in Iran on the first day of autumn (September 23, 2021).

As reported, Iran extracts more than 1 billion cubic meters of gas daily.
