The drilling of 38 wells has been completed as part of the gas storage expansion project in Turkey, SOCAR AQS told Trend.
“Underground gas storage expansion is underway by SOCAR AQS in Tuz Golu of Turkey’s Aksaray province. The project envisages drilling of 40 wells, of which 38 is already complete. It is planned to wrap up the works on the project for the underground gas storage expansion by the end of 2021,” said the company.
Tuz Golu project comprises of 40 wells to be drilled into a salt dome to create approximately 4.4 billion cubic meters of underground gas storage capacity.
A field facility was built within the Project area, in close proximity to well locations, to support the drilling and well construction process effectively, to ensure delivery of all equipment and services on time.
SOCAR AQS was established in 2007, as an integrated drilling and well services management company between SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic), Nobel Oil Services and AQS (Absheron Drilling Company). Nobel Oil Services – a diversified group of companies specialized in the oil and gas industry – is a major shareholder of SOCAR AQS JV.

SOCAR AQS has been assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 international standards for: Provision of Integrated Offshore Oil & Gas Drilling and Well Services; Casing Running Services and BOP and Wellhead Equipment Repairing and Testing Services.
In 2017, SOCAR AQS was certified as meeting the requirements of the API Spec Q2 Quality Management System Standard for the Provision of Integrated Offshore Oil & Gas Drilling & Well Services.
