As many as 81 oil and gas fields have been discovered in Azerbaijan till January 1, 2021, Trend reports with reference to the state oil company SOCAR.
Currently, 59 fields produce hydrocarbon, while 22 fields haven’t been operated or their production has been suspended. Around 40 of the operated fields are onshore, while 19 are offshore.
The operated fields have produced 2.116 billion tons of oil and condensate and 901.5 billion cubic meters of gas since their launch until January 1, 2021. Onshore fields produced 980.9 million tons of oil and condensate and 139.5 billion cubic meters of gas, while the volume of output from offshore fields stood at 1.136 billion tons of oil and condensate and 762 billion cubic meters of gas.
