EU gas reserves down by 10% over decade

European Union’s gas reserves have decreased by 10 percent between 2010 and 2020, Trend reports with reference to Italian Eni company.

The dynamics of change in EU gas reserve volumes over the last 15 years is as follows: 2.915 trillion cubic meters in 2005, 2.266 trillion cubic meters in 2010, 1.571 trillion cubic meters in 2015, 1.414 trillion cubic meters in 2016, 1.328 trillion cubic meters in 2017, 847 billion cubic meters in 2018 and 787 billion cubic meters in 2019 and 2020 each.

Europe accounted for 2 percent of the world natural gas reserves in 2020.

EU gas production fell by 7.3 percent between 2010 and 2020 and by 13.1 percent from 2019 to 2020. EU countries produced 221.57 billion cubic meters of gas in 2005, 185.25 billion cubic meters in 2010, 124.84 billion cubic meters in 2015, 124.82 billion cubic meters in 2016, 119.22 billion cubic meters in 2017, 109.42 billion cubic meters in 2018, 100.24 billion cubic meters in 2019 and 87.15 billion cubic meters in 2020.

EU gas consumption decreased by 1.4 percent between 2010 and 2020 and by 3 percent from 2019 to 2020. EU countries consumed 517.68 billion cubic meters of gas in 2005, 520.56 billion cubic meters in 2010, 416.29 billion cubic meters in 2015, 444.82 billion cubic meters in 2016, 462.91 billion cubic meters in 2017, 456.79 billion cubic meters in 2018, 468.07 billion cubic meters in 2019 and 453.81 billion cubic meters in 2020.
