The STAR oil refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey imported 850,974 tons of crude oil in August 2021 as compared to 825,625 tons in the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
The refinery also imported 28,865 tons of jet fuel.
The EPDK report shows that the STAR refinery produced 533,289 tons of gasoline, 3,258 tons of high-sulfur fuel oil, 72,777 tons of jet fuel, 118,606 tons of other intermediate products, 115,135 tons of other products, 222 tons of heavy vacuum gas oil, 16,818 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 131,058 tons of naphtha, 81,008 tons of petroleum coke, 30,459 tons of refinery gas and 132 tons of diesel fuel with a high sulfur content.
Star Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.
The annual processing capacity of Star Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Turkey’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
