By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
The Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant in the Qazvin Province (northern Iran) generated 697 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2021), the Director of Shahid Rajaee TPP Ali Farhur said, Trend reports citing Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.
“Of this volume, 365 million kilowatt-hours were generated by the combined cycle units of the thermal power plant, while 332 million kilowatt-hours by steam units,” he said.
Farhur also added that in the 8th month, the operation of steam unit No. 1, which can generate 250 megawatt hours of electricity, was suspended for overhaul. If the block was operating, the amount of generated electricity would've been higher.
The Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant has 13 units. Four of them are steam units each generation capacity of 250 megawatt-hours, and the rest are combined cycle units. In total, the TPP can generate 2,040 megawatts of electricity.
The Shahid Rajaee TPP plays a key role in supplying electricity to Iran, by generating 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
