BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Iran's South Pars Gas Company exported butane gas produced at its 13th gas refinery for the first time on May 18, 2022, the official of Iranian Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Payam Motamed said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official said that butane gas produced by the 13th refinery was transported to Iran’s Siraf port via a pipeline, and 12,000 tons of butane gas were loaded on a tanker and exported.

“Despite new US sanctions against Iran, the country has exported various liquefied gas (LPG, LNG and etc.), and sulfur produced by gas refineries and petrochemical facilities in the south of the country and generated significant profits. This has helped the country's economy,” Motamed added.

Iran's South Pars Gas Company's 13th refinery has the capacity to produce 56 million cubic meters of sour gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur, 1.05 million tons of liquefied gas (LPG, LNG and butane) and 1 million tons of ethane per day.

In May 2018, the US announced its withdrawal from the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group (US, Russia, China, UK, France, and Germany) and imposed sanctions on Iran in November of the same year. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies, and individuals. The sanctions have resulted in the freezing of Iranian assets abroad.
