BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. Gas consumption in Iran increased by more than 3 billion cubic meters for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
Joulaei stressed that in total, 242 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed in Iran over the last Iranian year.
“Of the mentioned volume, 123 billion cubic meters were consumed by residential buildings, commercial and small industrial facilities, 48 billion cubic meters - by large industrial facilities and 71 billion cubic meters - by thermal power plants,” he added.
The official also said that on average, 670 million cubic meters of gas daily were consumed in the country during the first 13 days of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 2, 2023).
Of that, 346 million cubic meters were consumed by residential buildings, commercial and small industrial facilities, 173 million cubic meters - by thermal power plants and 151 million cubic meters - by large industrial facilities, Joulaei noted.
There are 23 active gas fields in Iran. At present, Iran's gas production is reportedly over 1 billion cubic meters per day.
