BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Iran plans to start the construction of the ‘Omidiyeh’ chemical and petrochemical plant in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) in coming days, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Khuzestan Province Hamid Reza Fallah said, Trend reports.
The chairman stated that the organization has already awarded a license for the development of this $1.5 billion plant.
Fallah further stated that a memorandum of agreement was signed for the construction of the specified facility between Khuzestan governorate, Khuzestan Province's Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization, and Persian Gulf Petrochemical Holding.
According to him, the building of this plant will employ around 15,000 people.
There are now 22 petrochemical businesses in Iran's Khuzestan Province.
