Volume of gas output from Azerbaijan’s Absheron field disclosed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. Absheron field offshore Azerbaijan has produced 0.8 billion cubic meters of gas as of 2023, Trend reports via the country’s energy ministry.

The overall gas production in Azerbaijan last year stood at 48.3 billion cubic meters, up by 3.2 percent or 1.5 billion cubic meters as compared to 2022.

During the reporting period, the country exported 23.8 billion cubic meters of gas, showing a 5.3 percent growth year-on-year. Europe imported 11.8 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas, while Türkiye and Georgia received 9.5 billion cubic meters and 2.5 billion cubic meters, respectively. The Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) supplied 5.6 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye.

Absheron gas and condensate field, located about 100 kilometers southeast of Baku in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, is operated by JOCAP (Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum). The first gas from the Absheron field was received in early July of 2023.
