BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. The natural gas production volume from the main fields (Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz) in Azerbaijan from January through May 2024 amounted to 20.9 billion cubic meters (bcm), up 700 million cubic meters year on year, Trend reports via the country's Energy Ministry.
According to the ministry, 5.4 billion bcm of the volume accounted for Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, remaining unchanged compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, 11.6 bcm of gas were produced from the Shah Deniz field (against 11.1 bcm in the first five months of last year).
Additionally, 650 million cubic meters were also produced from the new Caspian Absheron field (the production has been ongoing since July 2023).
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 3.2 bcm of non-contract gas (from Azneft Production Union and joint ventures (a year-on-year decrease of 500 million cubic meters).
To note, gas production in Azerbaijan amounted to nearly 48.5 billion cubic meters in 2023, and the figure will slightly grow this year.
