The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) started drilling of the 6-th advance well of the eastern sector of the “Azeri” oil deposit, part of the contract area “Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli” (ACG), AIOC told Trend. The well’s design depth is over 4000 meters. “Drilling is supposed to complete in two week’s time”, AIOC pointed out.

Drilling is performed by the Azerbaijani-American Joint Venture CDC from the oil platform “Dede-Gorgud”. Earlier the advance boring program presupposed availability of 6 wells on Eastern Azeri, later the consortia decided to drill two additional wells.

The advance drilling program is planned to speed up the process of the oil production after the construction of the sea stationary platform on the deposit. Development of the western and eastern sectors of the “Azeri” field is performed in the framework of the "Phase-2" project for the full-scale development of the ACG block.

"Phase-2" envisages constructing of two platforms, from each of them 48 wells will be drilled. The first oil in the framework of the “Phase-2” is planned for mid-2006. Over 20 million tons oil a year will be produced from two platforms. 210 million tons of oil is scheduled to produce for the period of the project implementation.
