The Azerbaijan State Oil Company president, Rovnag Abdullayev met with the EU delegation headed by the EU vice director on external affairs, Fokion Fotiadis, SOCAR told Trend.
EU has expressed the interest in improving relations with Azerbaijan especially on the issue of integrating SOCAR to the European oil and gas market.
The SOCAR head in its turn informed the delegation members about the work of his company and possibility of delivering the high quality Azerbaijani oil to the European markets. He noted that Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan pipeline construction works are now in final stage. Putting the project into exploitation will allow increasing amounts of oil exported to the European markets.
According to Abdullayev, EU and SOCAR could cooperate in the modernization of the oil-refining factories in Azerbaijan in order to match them to the high European quality standards for oil products. Perspectives of the Odessa- Broda pipeline project and gas supplies issues to the EU have also been discussed at the meeting.
